I'm going to test it on my laptop next - I'll let you know if I find out any more.

And if it screws up, it can usually be fixed by temporarily switching the output (DAW or MP) to my old soundcard and then back to the Mackie again - I guess that this might *reset* the driver or something. See the manual references forum discussion mid 2010 -> late 2011 another discussion december 2011 with some people saying it works fine without any extra drivers, mackie onyx blackjack, general mackie onyx blackjack is a 2 2 usb interface with microphone pre-amps. So, I have discovered that if I only use one application at a time (DAW or media player) I can get the BlackJack to work OK. If I then re-switched my media player back to the Mackie ASIO, it started to work OK again!īy the way, I discovered that the distorted audio was only on playback - it had actually been recorded OK. Switching my media player to my other (internal EMU) sound card resulted in perfect output again - so my old card was still working OK. As soon as I tried to listen to some music in my media player (Media Monkey), the quality was rubbish again. Ive always wanted a more hands-on approach and feel like this may be nearing that goal for me. While changing settings in the Asio driver through Cubase, my PC reset!īut when it had re-booted, I tried recording again and this time it recorded OK, even when I reduced the buffer size back to what it was. Im also looking to replace my Mackie Onyx Satellite with something like the M-Audio NRV10, routing VSTs either from Kore and/or Reaktor as the send effects (which may or may not include PoCo one day). So I thought I'd try it in Cubase - same results - so it's nothing to do with Reaper. I progressively increased the buffer size which reduced, but didn't eliminate, the clicks. I installed the Mackie driver, plugged the BlackJack in and recorded some guitar into Reaper - the result was crap audio with lots of clicks through it.
